Welding Rods and Quality

Postby kfxnando » Tue Apr 13, 2010 2:56 pm

quality is important, so buying a reputable name brand might be worth the extra money!!

well as the finances got tighter, so the home stock of welding rods, and once the Afrox(2.5mm) ones ran out was using a different make of welding rods (2.0mm) for the small jobs
however the spare fuel carrier for the quad, had broken in a very strange way, pulled the whole thing off, and welded it off the machine, with new quality Afrox rods, wow I can weld again!!

good quality welding rods do make a huge difference to the quality of the welding!!

well have tried some other make of welding rods, ''pro*****" cant remember the exact name, welded a bit with them, they felt ok, and that was straight after welding with Afrox Vitamax, have ordered 1kg, am waiting for it now, the guys is on leave, however he said he would make a plan and get it to me, will try it out some more and give feed back!!

so far, they are less then half the price of the Afrox Vitamax, so will see how it welds, once home and can play a little more!!
and will post some feed back!!

Edit:
think those rods, were Promax, and still have not decided on weather its worth the saving!!

will post once a conclusion has been reached!!
